Job Title: Plant Manager

Reports To: Operations Manager

Role Overview:
The Plant Manager oversees all activities within the plant, ensuring that results meet the budget developed in conjunction with upper management. This role encompasses responsibility for all departments, including purchasing, production, shipping and receiving, and administration. By applying continuous improvement principles, the Plant Manager works to enhance health and safety, environmental standards, quality, and plant efficiency. Given the small size of the plant, versatility is essential.

Must Have:

  • Formal Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 1-4 years of Project Management experience
  • Some Experience in Supply Chain or Manufacturing
  • Must currently live in East Coast and be able to relocate to Plattsburgh, NY

Key Responsibilities:

Administration:

  • Participate in weekly corporate meetings to share results and best practices.

  • Generate weekly reports on overall plant performance.

  • Manage the inventory process.

  • Communicate objectives and KPIs to the team weekly.

  • Participate in budget creation and monitor adherence.

  • Develop and track KPIs for OTD, efficiency, EH&S, etc.

Promoting EH&S:

  • Lead the morning stretch routine.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain standards for a safer and greener work environment.

  • Attend monthly corporate meetings.

  • Conduct monthly EH&S training sessions.

  • Investigate incidents and develop corrective plans.

  • Foster a safe work environment and implement solutions to improve safety.

Production/Quality:

  • Serve as the second responder in the help chain.

  • Create weekly production plans by proactively managing interdepartmental activities, material, and labor resources.

  • Define standards and oversee the creation of work instructions.

Human Resources:

  • Develop training programs and track progress using a skills matrix.

  • Foster a positive working atmosphere.

  • Manage and track employee discipline.

  • Enforce the rules outlined in the employee handbook.

  • Represent the company to employees and manage communication and feedback effectively.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Independently engage in problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Lead improvement meetings during work shifts to identify better production methods.

  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement within the plant.

  • Implement improvements by developing new tools or collaborating with external resources.

  • Manage improvement projects assigned by upper management.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of EH&S and environmental standards.

  • Familiarity with key performance indicators.

  • Understanding of ISO standards and quality systems.

  • Workflow management and manufacturing processes.

  • Expertise in continuous improvement, Lean management, and DMS principles.

  • Proficiency in office software, particularly Excel (intermediate level).

  • Inventory management and ERP system usage.

  • Budget creation and tracking skills.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Available for occasional travel within Canada (passport required).

  • Manufacturing experience.

  • Autonomous, proactive, and go-getter profile.

  • Team player with the ability to inspire others.

  • Analytical skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with experience in engineering and project management may be considered
