Tenacity Summer Tennis and Reading Program
Student Workers - Part-time Positions - $18.00 per hour
The City of Chelsea is seeking part-time staff to assist with Tenacity - a free summer Tennis and Reading Program open to any Chelsea resident ages 6-12. Morning and Afternoon Sessions are available.
Tenacity’s six-week program has two, three-hour sessions Monday through Friday, June 24-August 9. Session One is from 9am-12pm and Session Two is from 1-4pm at Voke Park, 546 Washington Avenue, Chelsea. The tennis component of the program is games based and is designed to develop participants into functioning tennis players while emphasizing fun. The academic piece of the program is designed to keep kids reading over their summer vacation so they maintain important literacy skills.
The City of Chelsea is proud to be the sponsor of Tenacity's Summer Tennis and Reading Program.
Responsibilities & Tasks
A developmental role for 15-18 year-olds looking to gain experience working with kids Must report on-time and ready to work Monday-Friday from 9am – 12pm OR from 1-4pm for seven weeks from June 24-August 9. A week training happens in late June. Must be ready to collaborate, assist, and learn from the site leader on how to deliver tennis, fitness, and reading activities to young children Be energetic and bring a “can-do” attitude to work, and be ready to work outdoors every day Help organize supplies and equipment before and after program each day, including sanitizing equipment Assist in various other tasks assigned by site leader Interest in reading and/or children’s literacy is a plus.To apply, email your application and/or resume to jobs@chelseama.gov or send to Human Resources, City of Chelsea, 500 Broadway, Room 301 Chelsea, MA 02150.
