The Respiratory Therapist I assists in the treatment and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing sputum, blood, and breathing specimens to assess levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. The therapist administers physician-prescribed treatments for patients with breathing abnormalities and performs technical work related to respiratory therapy procedures and protocols. This role involves regular interaction with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate and promote optimal patient care.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Set up equipment and medications and administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; charts treatment, response, and progress. Observe patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds. Assess and document patients’ condition on ventilators to include ETT tube placement, cuff pressure (if appropriate), breath sounds, respiratory effort, color and any noted treads in secretion, pressures, etc. Perform EKGs and arterial blood gases.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

Graduate from Registered Care Practitioner school with license. California Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RCP) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
