Position Overview
The SchoolRegistered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing direct schoolnursing services in an effort to promote prevention medicalmanagement and academics.

Essential JobFunctions
Provides school nursing services to directservice school districts
Assesses and evaluates thehealth and developmental status of the student in order to make anursing diagnosis and establish a priority for action
Interprets the health and developmental status of the student toschool personnel parents and the student as appropriate
Serves as a health resource person in the health instructioncurriculum and takes leadership with faculties in planning andimplementing a health education programs.
Providesparent education related to student needs
Participationin the development of Health Plans and attend school conferenceswhen applicable. Provide care delegate and teach care to othersunder the established plan of care while following the direction ofa physician nursing supervisor school designee and/orparent
Attend appropriate continuing education programsas per licensure requirements and participate in Aveannainservicing and training as offered
Exhibit behaviorsupporting and promoting students rights and overallwellbeing
Follow Aveanna and school board policies andprocedures that affect the health safety and wellbeing of studentsin the school health setting. Report any changes in the studentsmental physical or environmental condition (including anyincidents) to the physician nursing supervisor school designee andparent as applicable
Recognize and report signs ofsubstance abuse physical abuse or neglect
Provide a cleanand safe environment within the school including the safe use ofequipment
Identify appropriate methods for storage ofequipment supplies and medications.
Maintain andcoordinate standards of nursing while managing a comprehensiveschool health program
Provide preventive andrehabilitative measures while assisting/providing nursingassessments and screenings in an effort to promote safety andhealth for all
Perform treatments and/or procedures withskill and competence
Maintain and follow physician orderfor any invasive procedure and/or skill
Administermedication as per MD order and/or parental consent
Provide individual teaching and training with student and/or othersin an effort to encourage and promote student independence whenapplicable
Collaborate coordinate and supervise serviceswith others in order to promote academics and individualizedstudent needs
Accurately document services provided inaccordance with agency policies and procedures on the day theservices are rendered
Submit nursing documentation logsreports and timesheets within a timely manner and perpolicy

Requirements
Graduate of anaccredited Diploma Associate or Baccalaureate School ofNursing
Current unrestricted state license as aRegistered Nurse in the state of practice
Current CPRcertification
Current Basic Life Supportcertification
Demonstrated proficiency in clinicalassessments documentation and compliance with nursing care andpolicies and procedures
Additional state specificrequirements:
Continuing Education as required bystate
