Job Summary
Position Description The Bass School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology at UT Dallas invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre with professional and academic experience in production, directing, and actor training. The successful candidate will teach three classes per semester at the undergraduate and possibly the graduate level. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate or graduate courses in such areas as: Elements of Art and Performance, Creativity and Performance, and two or more of the following topic/content areas: Acting, Directing, Play Analysis, and History and Literature of the Theatre.The position includes directing and other production support (course release offered), mentoring and advising students, committee and service assignments, and opportunities to help shape policy and practices during a period of exciting transition.
The appointment commences for the fall 2024 semester. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: A terminal degree (doctorate or MFA in Theatre). Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences. The Visual and Performing Arts Program
The Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) undergraduate Program offers aspiring artists and performers an interdisciplinary study of the arts, allowing students to select courses in historical context, studio practice, performance ensemble, communication studies, and ideas and interpretation of the arts. The undergraduate VPA program includes several program options associated with concentrations in the visual arts, art history, communication studies, dance, theatre, film studies, music, photo-video-digital arts, or the interdisciplinary arts. Master’s and doctoral programs in the Visual and Performing Arts are interdisciplinary. While they do not offer specific concentrations like the undergraduate program, students can specialize in a particular discipline or combination of focus areas, such as visual art, art history, film studies, performing arts, photo-video-digital, etc.

A terminal degree in the academic discipline is required; a master’s degree (or higher) plus a record of distinguished accomplishments and appropriate certifications may be allowed with the Provost’s approval.
