This position is a field based role and will travel daily to job sites in Central New York State, North Central Pennsylvania and occasionally Connecticut. 

Current job sites are: Mayfield NY, Lowville NY, Middletown NY and Sidney NY.

The Safety Specialist II is responsible for promoting exceptional Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) teamwork with Henkels & McCoy operations teams at customer work sites and the Business Unit offices.

The Safety Specialist II will develop an understanding of the business, the context and mange implications related to HSE within the assigned area. Additionally, they will assist management in ensuring compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established HSE program. This individual must possess the ability to assess workplace hazards, determine the risks and provide solutions in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner.


Responsibilities

Perform compliance audits with crews using the IAuditor program. Perform regular safety training sessions and hold toolbox talks with crews at show ups or on job sites. Help complete project safety preplans and hazard analysis with managers, supervisors, and foremen. Assist with the Henkels & McCoy Incident Investigations process when incidents occur. Assist with the Company Drug Testing Program assuring Henkels & McCoy complies with DOT and RSPA requirements. Verify completion of HSE recommendations of the safety team (committee), insurance carrier, or other HSE consultants Assist with Area HSE Program including promoting the programs in the field to the employees Interact with field operations in support of department's initiatives and various programs Aid in ensuring that team goals, roles, protocols, and business relationships are consistent with high performance requirements and congruent with the company's strategy.
Qualifications

4 - year safety degree preferred or industry related experience Experience working within the electrical and/or telecommunications utility industry is preferred Must be willing to travel throughout the East Region Possibility of weekend work on project specific assignments Knowledge of OSHA, Standards, 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926, and other applicable standards Skills in operation of Office and data-based computer software (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) Ability to travel overnight 100% of the time, this position is construction site assigned. Extended work hours, including Saturday, as may be necessary to meet contract requirements.

Company provides vehicle for travel to and from job sites, as well as, use during the work day. The vehicle is NOT for personal use.

When overnight stays are necessary, reasonable housing and meal expenses will be reimbursed per company policy.

Salary range for this position is $56,500 to $90,000 depending on experience and education.
