Our Mechanical Estimator will work out of our Northeast Business Unit , located in Harrisburg, PA . The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects, working with several internal and external team members to provide detailed proposals to clients.

Mechanical Estimator Responsibilities

Provides timely and accurate HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection estimating for Commercial and K-12 projects. Progress estimates will include conceptual, programmatic, schematic, design development and construction document estimates. Provide value engineering, life-cycle cost analysis and facilities assessments as well as constructability reviews of drawings and specifications. Clearly and proactively communicates to the project team regarding mechanical systems and ensures that progress during the design stage is monitored through continuous communications. Coordinates design efforts with the Preconstruction Manager, Engineers, and Developers. Communicates input on the MPS portion of construction schedules. Reviews and provides edits for division 0 and 1, front-end specifications related to Mechanical, Plumbing and Sprinkler work. Solicits mechanical bids for agency construction management, energy, and general construction projects, reviewing and evaluating bids against required criteria. Assist in developing written scopes of work for hard bid and design build projects. Performs site inspections of mechanical, plumbing and sprinkler systems to confirm scope details and resolve constructability issues. Ensure the owner and design team(s) have confidence in our ability to provide mechanical preconstruction estimates, communicating effectively to all project team members (internally and externally).

Mechanical Estimator Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management; or a combination of technical training and/or related field experience. Minimum of 5 years’ estimating / project management experience on projects that have an estimated mechanical and plumbing value ranging from $1M to $30M+. Must be able to read and understand construction documents, including architectural and electrical. Familiarity of systems required for Education, Healthcare, Institutional, and Office/Commercial projects. Understands preliminary system design paraments for development of budgets at early stages of projects; design/build experience is a plus. Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office Excel and Word, Bluebeam, Trimble Anywhere, On Screen Take-off and Procore Established relationships with mechanical and plumbing contractors and equipment distributors beneficial. Good communication and leadership skills to be successful in a team-oriented, collaborative work environment.
