The School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences (SACBS) is currently seeking a motivated candidate for the position of Animal Technician II. The position will provide animal husbandry and healthcare and will support scientific inquiry through animal research. The position supports all aspects of routine animal husbandry. Weekends and holidays are required.

Duties & Responsibilities The position's primary responsibility is for the health and welfare of all livestock Daily maintenance, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and care of farm animals at the Campus Agricultural Center and Agricultural Research Center Maintaining proper records (health, nutrition, and sale) of all livestock Assisting with livestock health and veterinary care programs Maintaining animal facilities and livestock handling equipment Assisting faculty and staff with teaching and research projects Assisting faculty in teaching SACBS lab courses with animals Documenting breeding cycles using Excel and Word documents

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diversified group of faculty and students Ability to work with multiple domestic animals, including cattle, sheep, and horses Ability to take biological samples Knowledge of working with farm management, animal husbandry, or healthcare Knowledge and use of farm management software Effective computer skills (Word, Excel)

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift/transport a maximum of 50lbs Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required The selected candidate must become Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) certified upon starting job Flexibility of schedule, including weekends Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the .
