Purchasing Coordinator

With locations in Pittsburgh PA and Kutztown PA, McConway and Torley, LLC has been in continuous operations since , the same year the first US transcontinental railroad was completed. McConway has been able to meet the needs of our customers with a steady, dependable, and economical supply of high-quality coupler products. As the original designers of the first standard automatic coupler, continued innovation and craftsmanship have led to a product line that includes every ARR approved coupler as well as custom coupler solutions, which are all proudly cast in the US.
We are looking for a Purchasing Coordinator to order supplies and equipment based on our company’s needs. In this role your responsibilities will include researching new vendors, tracking deliveries, and updating order records ( dates, invoices and discounts.) If you’re familiar with supply chain procedures and know how to create and translate cost analyses, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you will make cost-effective purchases and ensure we maintain a fully stocked inventory.
Responsibilities
Monitoring stock levels and identifying purchasing needs Researching potential vendors Tracking orders and ensure timely delivery Updating internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts) Conducting market research to identify pricing trends Evaluating offers from vendors and negotiate better prices Preparing cost analyses Maintaining updated records of invoices and contracts Collaborating with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good conditionRequired Qualifications:
+ Years of related professional experience in Purchasing, Accounts Payable or similar Bachelors Degree in a business related field, or similar is required Equivalent Combination of education and experience may be considered Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.Preferred Skills:
Good understanding of supply chain procedures Hands-on experience with purchasing software Knowledge of market research Solid organizational skillsWorking Conditions:
Work environment include mainly an office environment but could at times include a steel plant, warehouse, or production environment. This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plantSafety Activities:
Be aware of and observe all safety practices. Including but not limited to- Safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc… as required Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
