Veterinary Assistant works with our Equine Sports Medicine Specialty team to triage, assess, monitor, treat, evaluate, and coordinate care of injured equines under the guidance of Veterinary Technicians and Clinicians. This role frequently travels to client sites to provide clinical services. Due to our nature as a teaching hospital, the VTI may also provide guidance to professional veterinary medical students, interns, residents, technicians, graduate veterinarians, and others in specialty areas.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Position Minimum Qualifications Two years of expertise in horse handling experience (the ability to restrain horses of varying training levels for treatment and procedures) and a HS Diploma or GED. Must have excellent horse-handling skills. The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license by the employment start date and be willing to drive CSU fleet vehicles. Preferred Qualifications Attention to detail, organization and ability to learn clinician and client preferences processes, mode of communication, procedures). Previous veterinary experience. Outstanding customer service and communication skills. Experience in equine rehabilitation treatments.
