Job Description


Do you have a degree in Accounting,Finance or other related fields? The Utah Department of Health and Human Services seeks you as a Financial Analyst III to monitor daily accounting activities for the division and complete FINET transactions in accordance with State policies. To be successful in this role you need to be able to interpret federal regulation in relation to Medicaid guidelines. You are also expected to monitor compliance to State Purchasing, State Finance, and Department procurement and disbursement guidelines.

Principal Duties 
The accounting tasks you will be responsible for are:

Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and department rules, policies, standards and practices. Reviewing payment coding to ensure compliance with the Cost Allocation Plan. Reconciling financial statements and reports. Analyzing, summarizing, and reviewing data and interpreting results. Reporting findings and making recommendations. Researching and reviewing financial records, transactions, and documentation. Review, audit, and process disbursements in FINET. Reconcile Fund accounts. Processing journal entries and allocations. Process computer and software purchases Conduct fixed asset inventory Process denied claims
  The Ideal Candidate Has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance and other related fields of study.  Can evaluate and implement process improvements. Can effectively communicate in writing and verbally. Can work with people in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.

  Preference
 May be given to applicants with a Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.

Supplemental Information

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. Even though this is a Flexible/Hybrid position, currently this position will be working in the office, and within the next few months will then return to hybrid.
