The Small Animal Hospital is dedicated to the total well-being and care of a pet throughout its lifetime. We are a part of the Vet Med Teaching Hospital (VMTH) at Texas A&M University with a team of dedicated, caring veterinary medical professionals

What we want

The Customer Service Associate I, SA Client Services – Front Office Associate provides professional, courteous, respectful service while explaining policies and procedures, verifies, gathers, and relays information; communicates with clients, rDVMs, faculty, staff, students, and other customers. Admits and discharges patients in the Small Animal Hospital.

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

Physical Requirements: Sitting or Standing long periods of time. Ability to lift and/or move heavy items. No inhibiting allergies to animals or dust.

Other Requirements and Factors:  Ability to work alternative shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call duty.

Required Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent

Two years of general office or clerical work

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and/or data entry applications

Must possess good public relations and customer service skills

Strong financial background (ex: cashier experience, collections of co-pays/deductibles, etc.)

Active listening and problem-solving skills

Ability to gather/audit/compare information

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a Veterinary or Medical Setting. Knowledge of electronic medical records

Responsibilities:

Admissions Duties

Gathers and obtains correct information to create/update or verify account of client and/or chart for patient while correctly explaining VMTH policy and procedures in a professional manner. 

Notifies services and appropriate personnel of patient arrival.

Documents all information in correct systems, databases, etc.

Discharge Duties

Explains billing invoice and collect payments due and/or provide information regarding alterative options according to the policy and procedures of VMTH.

Verifies that information in computer system is correct. Inform clients of VMTH policies and thank clients for their business.

Audits inpatient invoices to communicate with services regarding financials.

Collects outstanding balances.

Client Care/Customer Care

Assists or directs clients/customers to appropriate resource for any issues that may arise during the visit to the SAH.

Accounting Duties

Collects payments, count cashier drawers, verify working funds, etc. according to the policy of Texas A&M University System.

Performs other duties as assigned.
