Lead Teacher Job Description
Stipend: $2,000
Overview
STEM Adventures is a 5-day summer camp held at Meadow Lane Elementary that will occur July 15-19, 2024 for 240 rising 3rd through 6th grade Wayne County Public School students. Students will be immersed in hands-on activities, participate in a field trip and attend a Family & Community STEM showcase. Staff are responsible for working Monday-Friday from 8:00 am- 4:00 pm. Camp begins each day for students at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm.
Responsibilities
The lead teacher completes all the duties of a teacher and additionally serves as the point of contact between the program coordinators and teachers leading up to and during the camp. They assist with the implementation of the curriculum and attain mastery over the different activities in order to support teachers during camp. The lead teacher guides the other teachers in setting up, organizing, and preparing materials prior to camp. The lead teacher will provide support as needed to the directors in facilitating appropriate staff and materials for participating elementary schools’ STEM nights throughout the academic school year.
Minimum Education/Experience Required Current WCPS Staff Bachelor’s degree & teacher licensure Interest in STEM field or related area Ableto lead others through tasks Ableto work independently and without supervision Prior experience leading STEM camps or activities (preferred)
