Job Summary: The Compliance Analyst helps develop and maintain systems and processes to demonstrate the principles of the Corporate Compliance program. This role supports coding and billing functions throughout the health system, in addition to other compliance program activities.


Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred.


Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) from the Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of healthcare compliance experience. Experience within an auditing environment, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office as might be used in the preparation of correspondence and reports. Knowledge of medical coding regulations and industry standards, including ICD-10-CM, current procedural terminology (CPT) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS). Advanced knowledge and experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other applicable healthcare systems. Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information. Ability to use departmental and job specific software programs. Proven ability to collect, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides compliance program support with audit and monitoring, corrective action plan management, data analytics, and other projects to ensure proper execution of the compliance program work plan and priorities. Maintains compliance activity tracking database, audit system, and other related compliance software and tools. Helps with the development and maintenance of compliance-related education and training materials; conducting training sessions on compliance-related topics, as needed. Assists in reviewing and analyzing documentation requests for audits performed by outside agencies, such as regulatory bodies and insurance companies. Supports investigative risks and issues with effective research, root cause analysis, and gap analysis for effective remediation and corrective action management. Works with the compliance team to interpret regulations and provide related guidance. Aids in investigations of alleged breaches of policy, misconduct, or other acts of non-compliance to determine the cause, extent of loss, and mechanisms for prevention. Keeps informed of emerging developments and trends within compliance to assist in decision-making endeavors.

Decision Making: Independent judgement in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision.

Working Relationships: Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
