Millennium Physician Group is looking for a Director of Value Based Care for the Tampa, Florida region. This position will travel within the region. The office will be based remote or within an available admin office in the region.
The Director of Value Based Care (DVBC) oversees regional value-based operations of Millennium Physician Group (MPG) and is responsible for continuous improvement in all operational fundamentals that impact value based care for our Medicare Advantage (MA) Plans and Medicare Shared Savings Accountable Care Organization (ACO), i.e. medical margin, burden of illness (BOI), quality, patient panels, new physician onboarding, physician capacity, patients not seen, annual wellness visits (AWV) and employee/physician engagement with all value-based programs.
The DVBC manages value-based membership growth through various enrollment levers such as; aged-in member conversion, the Medicare Annual Enrollment (AEP) Period, member voluntary alignment, acquisition membership pull through, and new provider/de-novo membership ramp. During these times, the DVBC works with the physicians and staff members on various initiatives such as BOI, utilization of MPG value-based resources as appropriate, and quality initiatives in order to maximize growth and medical margin.
Serving as a respected leader, the DVBC will build strong relationships with physicians, advanced providers and staff alike, while collaborating across departments. The DVB coordinates the transformation of business from pay for volume to pay for value by providing better care for our patients (quality and patient experience), better health for our population of patients and lower costs through utilization management. The DVBC is a partner to the Regional Market Directors (RMD) who oversee patient throughput and efficiency in the practices, and is responsible for coordinating the value based staff in the region, providing support to the Practice Managers and assuring practices within their region meet quality and patient experience objectives and medical margin goal. The DVBC and RMD will have joint responsibility for driving total Region EBITDA performance to budget, including all of the Region's key performance metrics related to both volume and value resulting in combined EBITDA achievement. This position reports to the Chief Value Based Officer.
Scope:
Oversees 50-100+ primary care physicians/advanced providers (mid-levels) Responsible for value-based revenue budget of between $60-$350M over roughly 20-40+ locations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Works collaboratively with all value-based support functions assigned to the regions. Which include data, analytics, BOI quality, provider relations, care management, hospitalists, and transition of care staff. Strong partnership with the region's Associate Medical Director and physician POD leader(s). Directs, develops, and utilizes skills to partner with regional practice operations leadership in implementing value-based workflows and best practices that enable the practices to function most effectively and efficiently. Communicates and supports MPG's mission, vision, and core values, executing the company's value-based strategy within their region. Promotes the quality and value of patient-focused health services and the shift to risk based contracting in support of Medicare and Commercial ACO's, MA Health Plans and other new models of care. Works in conjunction with corporate value-based staff to maintain productive, collaborative relationships with practice physicians and advanced providers.Operations:
Overall responsibility for developing and maintaining effective systems for value-based care delivery for all practices in the region. Identifies the needs of patients, providers, staff, and practices in conjunction with resource allocation with strong follow through on problem resolution and deliverables. Overall responsibility for all value-based medical margin, quality improvement, and performance activities. Provides feedback on value-based resource allocation to support offices. Ability to impact regional utilization metrics and identify opportunities to put impactful clinical programs or partnerships in place to address unnecessary healthcare spend. Oversees value-based training for providers and staff to reduce variability in value-based performance at the practice and individual level.Strategic Planning:
In depth understanding of all healthcare dynamics in the region including competitors, hospital systems, site of service and non-MPG physician groups. Develops and implements plans to target growth and strategic opportunities as defined by MPG leadership. Aligns strategic, operational and medical margin targets. Assists as needed in business development, provider onboarding and understanding market opportunities as directed.Financial Performance:
Establishes, monitors, and meets measurable medical margin financial goals, as well as Total Region EBITDA. Communicates Corporate-level expectations and devises implementation plans to meet objectives; supports development of Quarterly Action Plans.Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferably in Business Management, Healthcare Administration or equivalent. Minimum of ten years' experience in a leadership role in large distributed physician-based healthcare networks; value-based care experience required.Skill/Knowledge/Abilities:
