Job Summary/Basic Function
The Music Department is looking for degree peer mentors. Two for each degree program: Music Education Music Industry Bachelor of Arts in Music Required Qualifications MUST be a music major Sufficient knowledge of musical terms to proficiently educate music students Able to teach the fundamentals of the art of music Critical thinking skills associated with reading and writing music Must be able to work independently and self-driven Must be punctual, dependable and trustworthy Performance experience with a variety of instruments Knowledgeable of all majors, class requirements, and the program in general Ability to mentor as a positive role model Preferred Qualifications N/A Job Duties FALL RESPPONSIBILITES Follow UNIV Syllabus and schedule meeting with first year students to supplement class instruction Focus on the following topics from a student perspectiveWeekly scheduleHow to use/Features of D2L8-Smester PlanJuriesAdvisement meetingsRegistration Provide one-on-one help in these areas to students as needed SPRING RESPONSIBILITIES Continue encouraging the application of time management and organizational techniques taught in the Fall Focus of the following topics from a student perspectiveReview Fall materialsPracticingResumes and Cover LettersSolfegeRegistration Provide one-on-one help in these areas to students as needed Working Conditions and Physical Effort * Be able to sit and use a computer for the length of shift* Be able to lift packages at most 10lbs
