Position Summary

The Northeast Regional Organizer plays a critical role in this work and is responsible for supporting chapters across the northeast region of the United States, working with Chapter Chairs, Leadership Committee members, and Climate Reality Leaders, to provide resources, trainings, and dedicated support. This position will work closely with Chapters running or interested in running Climate Reality campaigns, building tools for them to use and amplify amongst their Chapter membership, helping to train organizers, and generally acting as a personal point of contact for engaged volunteers.

As a representative of the Global Field team, this position also assists in efforts to meet strategic program and organizational goals through outreach and partnership-building with new constituencies, building strong relationships within this region. States served in this region include West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and the District of Columbia.

Currently reporting to the US Field Senior Manager, the Northeast Regional Organizer has no direct reports.

This position is within a union-represented collective bargaining unit, and specific terms and conditions of employment will be subject to a collective bargaining agreement between Climate Reality and the union.

This is a full time, hourly, non-exempt, benefits-eligible, hybrid position. The Climate Reality Project offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with staff working from our office in downtown Washington, DC at least two days per week to enable and encourage collaboration within and among teams. The salary for the role is $55,000 USD per year.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work with the Chapters team to recruit, onboard, and support new Climate Reality chapters  Provide on-going support, follow up, and leadership development to chapters  Conduct monthly one-on-one calls with chapter chairs to build lasting relationships with them as their point person on staff and help lead monthly national leadership calls  Act as the liaison between Climate Reality and Chapters, and Climate Reality Leaders  Facilitate meetups and retreats between regional chapters to foster peer learning and development  Train Climate Reality chapters on campaigns and organizing skills through developing Chapter Training Series curriculum content and acting as a skill trainer for webinars and in-person training events  Build organizational storytelling capacity by compiling chapter narratives, accomplishments, and photos to share with both internal and external audiences  Adhere and contribute to strong data management practices and program metrics  Support chapters with administrative duties  Serve as a resource for your chapters and the organization on regionally relevant issues and campaigns  Work with chapter leaders to recruit new chapter members and leadership Build and maintain regional partnerships and identify strategic coalition spaces for Climate Reality and our chapters to join  Support chapters as they run Climate Reality campaigns, with support from the Campaigns team  Support the creation and implementation of chapter-specific campaign plans by providing feedback on plans and coaching through prioritization of actions to create impact  Track the progress of chapter-led campaigns and chapter development in coordination with the US Field Team  Support and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture, for example by serving on ad hoc or ongoing work groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices Assist with Climate Reality Leadership Corps trainings, especially those in your region, and help chapters with post-training engagement  Other duties as assigned 

Required Skills and Abilities

Strong organizational, written and verbal communications skills Ability to manage deadlines and multi-task, with some experience in managing or supporting projects/events Experience and awareness of cultural diversity, ability to work effectively with a diverse group of organizations and volunteers, across generations and regions A dedication to solving the climate crisis Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint Organizing experience preferred, including the ability to build strong working relationships with volunteers Proficiency with Salesforce preferred Proficiency with Mac preferred Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, learn quickly, and accept constructive feedback  Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer required

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree—or equivalent experience Has between 0-2 years of relevant experience Working knowledge of organizing communities, leading climate change campaigns, and cultural diversity Proven track record with coalition building, political organizing, grassroots, or field campaign organizing
