About the Role

Position Summary

This role will serve as the key engineer to lead scale up and industrialization within the Food BU. The main priorities will be solving scale up related challenges across our Food BU network of manufacturing plants with a key focus on our powder blending facility in Elyria, OH. They will also manage pilot facilities to ensure that our scale up procedures are seamless from pilot to commercial scale.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the scale up process within food BU manufacturing sites by collecting, analyzing and interpreting key analytical and physical data. They will also be expected to run equipment and model scale up procedures. Equipment includes: powder flow analysis, dusting, color analysis, Somakon blenders, vapor sorption analyzers. Troubleshoot and find technical solutions for assets that manufacture key products within the Food BU. This includes : reactions, extraction, spray dries, drum dries, liquid blending and powder blending. Recommends change of processing parameters and mixing instructions, when necessary. 20% Supports transfer of new technologies and the make of new raw materials into manufacturing and the powder transfer activities led by operations. Work as key contact within our product transfer process. Assist within BU related capex and on site installation of equipment and lab modifications. Work with facilities to coordinate and ensure proper installation of equipment. Looks continuously for improvement of existing procedures and methods. Maintain SOPs for key equipment. Other Functions: Assist in long term planning as it relates to the overall strategy of the Food BU. Be acute and studied on new technologies that will advance the product portfolio of the Food BU. Stay connected with key global counterparts to share knowledge and skills. Coordinate and liaise with engineering team on process improvements in dry blending plant.

About You

Knowledge and Experience

B.S. or M.S. degree in chemical engineering, food engineering, or a related field. Must have 3 - 5 years' work experience as a Process Engineer in the food and flavor industry. Extensive knowledge of processing equipment.

Skills and Abilities

Extensive analytical and troubleshooting skills. Advanced written and verbal communication skills. Ability to provide detailed and thorough analysis of technical challenges. Ability to work independently and autonomously. Advanced knowledge of processing equipment. Good computer skills. Must be willing and able travel approximately 30% domestically with some international travel on occasion Bona Fide Occupational Qualifier : Must be willing and able to taste and smell all types of flavors (including meat).

Safety/Regulatory Training Requirements

Attend all relevant safety trainings. Participate in Management safety visits. Foster a culture of safety.
