Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION: Perform light- and heavy-duty cleaning of assigned center and oversee program custodians for quality of work, use of systems, processes, and compliance with program protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL:
1.Associate Degree in related field, or its equivalent in a combination of education and experience
2.Requires extensive knowledge of: methods, materials, and equipment used in light- and heavy-duty custodial work; custodial safety practices; and cleaning agents, related products and their possible reactions
3.Ability to operate heavy-duty, high-speed vacuums, rug shampooers, strippers, and floor polishers, and perform minor maintenance of custodial equipment using small hand tools
4.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
5.Ability to attend to detail with thoroughness and accuracy
6.Strong record keeping and organizational skills to work within prioritized needs
7.Current driver’s license
8.Complete criminal record check from Department of Health & Welfare’s Criminal History Unit prior to consideration for hire
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL:
1.Treat participants, fellow staff, and community members with positive regard
2.Maintain safe working habits to insure a safe working environment
3.Building maintenance and minor repairs
4.Clean, sanitize, and polish lavatory and sink fixtures; dust, wash, and sponge mop where needed
5.Clean and sanitize furniture, woodwork, walls, and windows
6.Clean window shades and covers on light fixtures; replace light bulbs
7.Remove waste and debris from inside and outside of buildings
8.Sweep, vacuum, and shampoo carpet; move furniture
9.Strip, wax, and buff tile floors as assigned
10.Ensure removal of snow, when applicable
11.Look after assigned equipment to insure maximum life and efficient operation
12.Monitor chemical and cleaning supplies, ordering and inventory
13.Develop, maintain, and update SDS information to ensure all center binders contain specifics on products used at each center
14.Maintain Hazard Communication Program including but not limited to developing and administering trainings and maintaining the Hazardous Chemical Inventory List.
15.Interview, train, and coach all program custodians
16.Work with Center Supervisors to create individual center workflow plans, order cleaning supplies, and review custodian performance issues
17.Participate in an individualized continuing education plan including CPR and First Aid
