General Summary: Reporting to the System Director, Compliance and Privacy, the System Manager Compliance and Privacy, is responsible for the system wide general compliance and privacy programs. This leader will partner closely with leadership in all areas and at all levels of the organization but especially HR, IT and Legal to build a culture of open dialogue and doing the right thing. This leader will develop a strategic plan for combining the compliance and privacy functions bringing together the best elements of each program.

Hours: Full time, days.

Required:

Bachelor’s degree 1-2 years Management or Supervisor experience 3-5 years Experience in the Compliance and/or Privacy Department CHPC (Certified Healthcare Privacy Compliance) OR RHIA Registered Health Information Administrator) OR CHC (Certified Healthcare Compliance)

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Supervises compliance and privacy analysts and staff in the performance of their job responsibilities. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the privacy and compliance program: (40%) Supervises and conducts timely investigations of reported potential privacy and/or compliance incidents. These incidents may be reported through RL6, Midas, the Corporate Compliance Hotline or other means. Reviews documentations and documents the results of investigations in the Privacy and/or Compliance Department case management software and case folder. Reviews and approves privacy and/or compliance investigation summary reports, and breach letters documented by team members. Communicates or supervises the communication of and follow up on necessary corrective action to ensure the corrective action has been implemented. Effectively communicates or supervises communication with patients by phone and in writing on privacy and/or compliance concerns or complaints. Ensures that issues are investigated and logged. Performs or supervises the performance of initial and periodic privacy and compliance risk assessments and related ongoing monitoring activities in coordination with the entity’s other compliance and operational assessment functions. Develops effective reporting tools for privacy and/or compliance activities. Works with personnel at all levels of the organization involved with any aspect of release of protected health information, to ensure full coordination and cooperation under the organization’s policies and procedures and legal requirements. Leads the effort to conduct privacy and security assessment rounds making sure rounds are adequate. Develops and manages the data loss prevention program in collaboration with IT Security. Interviews, hires, orients, trains, develops and evaluates the performances of and, when necessary, disciplines and/or discharges department personnel. Provides direction, as necessary, to staff regarding sensitive and/or complex work, related problems, resolves complaints and responds to inquiries regarding department operations.
