Duties & ResponsibilitiesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Repair including but not limited to furniture, cabinetry, casement furnishings, walls, and other structural elements in dorms. Design, estimate, fabricate and install including but not limited to solid surface counter tops, solid surface shower surrounds, tile shower pans and wall/floor tile repairs. Design, estimate, fabricate and install cabinetry and similar furnishings; includes finish carpentry repair, refurbishing and installation. Repair and/or install doors and windows; including automatic doors; retrofit of equipment. Perform rough-in construction and related modifications to interior spaces, per applicable codes. Perform facility inspections, document work request activity and related requests. Operate and maintain related equipment and tools. Lead and supervise the work of assigned staff and students. Maintain carpentry inventory, tools, and equipment. Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet Housing & Residential Life and University goals and objectives.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials common to the carpentry trade. Knowledge of cabinet making techniques. Knowledge in fabricating solid surface counter tops. Skill in the construction, repair, restoration, and installation of wood or related materials. Skill in estimating time and material requirements of work projects assigned. Ability to effectively communicate. Minimum Qualifications Journeyman level position. Completion of a high school education or an equivalent combination of apprenticeship program, technical training and/or experience. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University . Preferred Qualifications Completion of a four year federally approved technical training program in carpentry; OR, Six years carpentry experience, OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
