Duties and Responsibilities

Assists the Manufacturing Engineer with developing, managing, and implementing projects as needed. Assists and directs others on the team to meet project specifications. Builds and assembles fixtures and other plant related items. Determines methods and sequences of building fixtures. Designs and creates jigs, fixtures, and holding devices. Assists engineers in maintaining tool crib. Maintains engineering/fixture building area, including but is not limited to cleaning, PM equipment, and keeping the area organized. Ensures fixtures function appropriately per design/prints. Trains production on how to use and install fixtures. Inspects fixtures for accuracy with the help of the quality department. Assists with other projects assigned from manufacturing engineers or management team. Assists in the analysis of space requirements, preparation of layouts for new equipment and projects, and evaluation of flow of materials to improve operating efficiency and reduction of errors. Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of the position. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, handle special projects, perform clerical tasks, and assist in other departments including Quality Assurance and Production.

Skills and Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Degree preferred. Five years of manufacturing experience required. Lean manufacturing experience preferred. Welding experience required. Welding certification preferred. 1 - 3 years of fixture building experience preferred. Proficient in basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook). Strong math and problem-solving skills with the use of geometry and trigonometry. Able to read and use common measuring devices. Able to read and understand prints and drawings. Able to work in a high-paced, manufacturing environment. Strong communication skills. Speak conversational English.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50lbs Ability to bend, stand, twist, and stoop. Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.

Subject to environmental conditions that occur within a fabrication shop condition including exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and vibration from use of equipment and the following:

Hazards: Variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin-fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. Oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
