Job Description:

Were looking for an experienced, creative Lead Electrical Engineer, recognized for technical expertise, to work independently on various design projects concurrently. Responsibility will include oversight of the entire design process or assisting as a technical expert on a specialized design.

As an experienced electrical engineer, youll assess the requirements of a project, break it into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing. After assigning work to the project team, youll regularly review their progress and alert the PM to any changes in scope. Maintaining quality in accordance with company production and design standards is critical.

Based out of our Burlington, MA office, youll research design options and write electrical design scopes of work based on preliminary reviews and meetings with clients. Youll also prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze the operation of existing systems. Some drawings youll create yourself, and other sketches will be incorporated into drawings by drafters. You may create specialized drawings such as electrical riser diagrams. Knowledge of local codes and industry-standard equipment and the ability to specify it for proper applications is important. Youll also do estimating, review contractor applications for payments, review construction budgets, and coordinate document completion.

As a leader on the electrical design team, youll share knowledge with and mentor junior staff who will be excited to learn from you You will regularly interact with clients, listening to their needs, and positively demonstrating the IPS focus on client experience. Youll build strong relationships with internal design teams and external clients as you work to provide solutions, all while building life-impacting facilities.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years' previous design experience.
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
  • Experience with design of building electrical systems, such as: building service, power distribution, generators, lighting, fire alarm, security, and other low voltage systems.
  • Has a strong understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, IBC, and other related building codes and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with medium voltage systems, electrical hazardous classified areas, and telecommunications systems.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Nutraceutical or Life Science industry experience.
