The Director of Global Congress Strategy is a visionary leader, playing a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional scientific presence at congresses of global significance. This dynamic position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment, where complex problem-solving skills are essential. This collaborative role fosters teamwork and synergy across functions, connecting and aligning closely with research, clinical development, regional medical affairs, and various other cross-functional teams to craft a comprehensive congress strategy. The Director will facilitate discussions to align on key activities, including educational initiatives for both inline and pipeline products, and will drive the development of a cohesive corporate approach to these congresses.

Establishing a global congress strategy community, this role fosters collaboration and shares best practices. Reporting to the Head of Global Scientific Communications, it offers the opportunity to make a significant impact to the organization’s global scientific outreach.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities: 

• Co-create strategy for congresses of global significance with global and regional cross-functional teams for key therapy areas, including inline and pipeline products
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute industry sponsored symposia and other innovative educational programs for autoimmune diseases
• Coordinate planning and execution of all congress related tactics with Medical Affairs sub-functions including Medical Information, Field Medical, Project Management and Scientific Communications to ensure coordinated, comprehensive, and impactful scientific presence 
• Work seamlessly with regional Medical Affairs partners to review and manage annual budget to support activities and requests for sponsorship at congresses of global significance
• Establish a Medical Affairs Congress Community consisting of global and regional team members for communal decision-making and to share best practices for outstanding scientific presence at key international congresses of global significance
• Develop and execute clear RACIs for every congress to ensure strong partnership and coordinated efforts between the regional host teams and the global team

Desired Skills and Experience:
• A visionary with well-developed leadership skills and ability to influence without authority 
• Ability to navigate matrixed organizations and solve complex problems with a keen focus on agility, quality, and impact
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, and team-oriented structure
• Leading the planning and execution of scientific symposia
• Extensive experience in developing and executing long term strategic plans including timelines, budgets, and relevant critical paths such as medical material review
• Ability to immerse in the science and identify critical areas for education 
• Experience in leveraging agency partners to deliver high quality programs for congresses with minimal regional support
• In-depth understanding of relevant industry regulations and practices
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, within a multi-cultural and multi-lingual global environment

Education and Qualifications:
• PharmD, PhD, or MD in neurology, immunology and/or rare diseases related life sciences discipline. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered
• 8+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience leading the development and execution of industry sponsored symposia and scientific presentations
• Global experience or experience working in multiple regions is an advantage
• Ability to travel 25% domestically and internationally
