Purpose

The VP Distribution sets and supports the overall Distribution Strategy for the Company. Develops, recommends, and executes strategic distribution related initiatives to achieve the lowest cost platform for SCS logistics by leveraging synergies, consistent processes and systems across the network. The incumbent will be accountable for the areas of Risk Control, Distribution Systems, Standards, Facilities and Industrial Engineering including automation initiatives. The VP Distribution will not only be responsible for costs and productivity for Distribution, but flawless customer service to our Retail and Independent Customers. The role will oversee the current 3PL relationships and facilities.

Responsibilities

Sets the strategic direction and oversees major projects across distribution centers, such as distribution center layout changes, equipment and space needs and utilization, capital expenses, major repairs, etc. Provides strategic oversight and guides teams to identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and waste Monitors damage and rework within each distribution center, and directs the establishment and implementation of distribution center standards Drives continuous improvement culture and leads key initiatives throughout the network Establishes a team of People Leaders who thoroughly understand the work, drives a culture that stops to fix problems, gets quality right the first time and systematically solves root cause problems Defines, monitors and measures outcomes from Distribution. Ensures consistent processes and standards across the network. Corrects variances. Sets strategy for risk control working with the Risk Management function Sets strategies for capital planning and expenditures by working with regional and corporate facilities Develops and implements strategy for distribution automation, including current best practices and sourcing additional automation opportunities Manages relationship with all customers Accountable for overall cost control for Distribution throughout the Save A Lot network With Human Resources, develops and implements training and development for distribution team members consistently across the network Leverages Distribution best practices across the company Develops and administers the fiscal budget for Home Office Distribution Department Works closely with Transportation to ensure overall goals are met Performs other duties as assigned

About You

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field and 10-15 years of increasingly more responsible Distribution experience including 10+ years in a management role Previous experience in a complex (more than 10 facilities large geography) distribution network Previous experience working with engineered standards and incentives Previous experience working in a Distribution Center Previous capital planning experience Proven success in setting and implementing strategy across multiple business units Ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience in taking initiative and making appropriate decisions

Physical Requirements

Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time, which may include weekends and evenings, as needed Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
