The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management (KNSM) is one of the largest academic departments at Texas A&M University. As one of four departments in the School of Education & Human Development, KNSM is currently home to over 1,468 undergraduate students, 175 master’s students, 57 doctoral students (1700 total), and 87 funded graduate assistants. KNSM is an active member of the American Kinesiology Association (AKA). The department joins in the efforts of the AKA to promote the discipline of Kinesiology as a field of study and to highlight its applications that affect all through research to enhance people's health. The Global Youth Sports For Development (GYSFD) Program Director, under general direction, directs the administration of assigned programs, including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities. If this opportunity sounds interesting and you meet the qualificaitons below, we invite you to apply to be considered for this opportunity.

Leadership - Develops GYFSD strategic plans based on department and Centers of Sport Management Research Education (CSMRE) goals. Serves on management team with Director. Represents GYSFD on committees, professional associations/organizations, and community partners to build visibility and develop and maintain collaborative relationships. Provides leadership for GYSFD along with and in absence of the Director. Program Management and Administration - Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates all aspects of the GYSFD programming. Makes evaluative judgments for projects or new initiatives related to the GYSFD. Plans, organizes, and directs the day-to-day activities including operations, procedural matters, and compliance. Maintains direct communication with the finance office to provide accurate and timely looks at the working budget of the initiative. Works with external partners to secure sponsorships and donations to support the costs associated with the GYSFD and other sponsored activities. Develops reports, analyses, and surveys as requested by Director. Handles special projects as assigned by the Director. Program Awareness - Develops and implements GYSFD programming through on-site, on-campus, and on-line projects, including some domestic and international travel. In collaboration with MarComm does workshops, seminars, and events to market and promote and disseminate products of the GYSFD. Researches, develops, prepares, and delivers presentations on the GYSFD programs, projects, and development opportunities. Supervision - Supervises, trains, and evaluates work of GYSFD support staff, interns, and student workers. Provides guidance to staff on policies, procedures, and areas related to their responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Ten years of program development, leadership, higher education administration, program coordination, or closely related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong strategic planning, organizing, and implementation skills  Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills. Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment. 

Other Requirements and Factors:

Position requires occasional nights, weekends, and overnight travel to include domestic and international locations.
