Job Description
The Setnor School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to MUE Introduction to Research in Music, a three credit hour course, during the Fall semester, .Course familiarizes students with methods and techniques required for in-depth exploration of music literature and research studies. Additional study of bibliographical materials is explored, as well as the study and application of appropriate writing styles.

To learn more about the college, our distinguished faculty, and our program, please visit our websites at Qualifications Qualifications consist of relevant academic credentials and experience including:Doctorate degree in music or music history.Evidence of exceptional scholarly writing skills, with ability to edit and assist in the preparation of student work.Experience teaching at the collegiate level with non-native speaking students (preferred). Job Specific Qualifications The candidate should have strong attention to detail, knowledge of course content, demonstrated pedagogical ability, as well as the ability to relate well in a classroom and one-on-one environment with college-level students.
Preference will be given to applicants who are able to fulfill multiple positions within the Setnor School of Music. Responsibilities Being present and instructing weekly class meetings during Fall semester as indicated:Tuesdays/Thursdays 5:00 PM – 6:20 PM Update a class syllabus.Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments.Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.Meet all designated class periods.If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute.You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to university regulations.Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
