:Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director for Pro Audio Visual Services (PAVS), the Audio Visual Support Technician I (AVST I) provides event and equipment support for all requests in Academic Performance facilities. Scope of support includes live sound reinforcement, audio/video recording, lights and projection services. The AVST I assists with the operation, maintenance, and distribution of audio/video equipment, including P. A. systems, instrument amplifiers, cameras and similar equipment. Schedule flexibility needed for classroom and event support coverage (Weekdays after 5pm, and occasional weekends).ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functional/Technical:
Provides audio/visual support for academic and ad-hoc events; often during off hours.
Assists with equipment support, inventory and upgrades in Academic Performance facilities.
Troubleshoots setups, escalating issues to PAVS staff and repair personnel as needed.
Provides assistance with equipment loans and relocations; supervising pickup, delivery and setup.
Assumes ownership of tickets assigned and follows-through until resolved, including communication, both internally and to the user.
Assists with training and supervision of student employees.
Works closely with staff from Pro Audio Visual Services, Academic Performance Facilities & Services, Music Instrument Repair Center and other Academic Technology areas.
Other duties as assigned.

Acts as project manager on projects assigned by the Associate Director.
Delegates tasks to student employees when appropriate.
Assists with Academic Performance Facilities & Services support when needed.
Adheres to Academic Technology published guidelines.
Works cooperatively and shares knowledge freely with all colleagues.
May be required to work additional hours when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual circumstances.
Professional Development:
Stays current with existing and emerging technologies, especially those that might benefit the academic experience at Berklee.
Maintains and continually expands knowledge of the specialized music technology used in contemporary music education.
Maintains technical certifications as required of the position.
Participates in required training for both technical and interpersonal skills.
Stays committed to actively enhancing skills in pursuing professional development.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
1 to 2 years of relevant professional work experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, music background preferred.
Proficiency in the operation of professional audio/visual equipment, including P.A. systems, cameras, projectors, lights rigs, instrument amplifiers, and other related equipment.
Understanding of audio signal flow and basic audio engineering concepts.
Live sound reinforcement experience is a plus.
Broad understanding of audio/video recording, editing, and other applicable software.
Ability to troubleshoot diverse equipment setups and explain their function and operation to end-users.
Work experience in a support role, preferably working with college faculty and students.
Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with Apple computers; database, calendar, spreadsheet and word processing software.
Must be able to occasionally lift at least pounds during equipment installations or relocations.
A commitment to excellent customer service.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assists with training and supervision of student employees. (Refer to organization chart)
