Responsibilities

This position plays a vital role in enhancing safety and operational efficiency at Spirit Airlines. This position involves monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting flight data to identify safety trends and operational risks. As a key contributor to the airline’s FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance) program, the analyst provides critical insights into flight performance, safety events, and opportunities for operational improvements.

Flight Data Monitoring : Collect and analyze flight data using FOQA software to identify deviations from standard operating procedures (SOPs) and potential safety risks. Utilize FOQA software tools to collect, process, and store flight data securely and efficiently. Monitor real-time flight operations data to identify any immediate safety concerns or deviations from established protocols.

Data Integrity : Ensure the accuracy, quality, and consistency of all FOQA processes and data. Perform in-depth analysis of collected flight data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that may indicate safety risks or operational inefficiencies. Use statistical methods and data visualization techniques to present findings in a comprehensible manner. Conduct root cause analysis for identified safety events to understand underlying issues and contributing factors.

Trend Analysis : Conduct trend analysis on flight data to uncover recurring operational risks and safety issues. Effectively present analysis results to the Flight Management Team (FMT) in a clear and concise manner. 

Collaborate with Key Stakeholders : Work closely with the FOQA Management Team and other operational departments to discuss findings, share insights, and develop action plans for identified safety issues.

Continuous Improvement : Contribute to the development of new data collection and analysis methods to enhance the FOQA program's overall effectiveness. Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements within the FOQA program to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting methods.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, or a related field 1-3 years’ experience required. Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate (preferred) SAS Certified Data Scientist, Data Science and Data Analytics for Aviation (any are desired) Proficient using SQL for query writing and data analysis. Knowledge of programming languages (Python, JavaScript, C-Sharp) desired. Strong knowledge of FOQA systems, flight data recorders (FDR), and flight operations. Proficiency using FOQA software (e.g., SARA by ERGOSS, GE Aviation's FDM, Safran Cassiopée, etc.) Familiarity with Airbus A320 Series aircraft performance and flight dynamics. Understanding of FAA regulations related to FOQA, SMS, and operational safety programs.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to a non-technical audience.

Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to interpret data and draw meaningful insights.

Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, fostering collaboration with various stakeholders.

Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data analysis and reporting.

Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Domestic & International travel under 10% of time.

Telework Capacity: Must be present at the Worksite 100% of the time.
