The Role

The Directorate of Navy Governance is seeking an APS 6 Information and Knowledge Management Officer who will under broad direction perform and achieve complex information and records management work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable for managing all aspects of the digital information supporting the Navy Library on the Defence Secret Network (DSN) to ensure its compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. As the functions performed by the APS 6 Information and Knowledge Management Officer are fully on the DSN applicants need to hold an NV1 or above clearance.

The Navy Library (N Library) is the online repository for guides, manuals, policy, doctrine, process and all other supporting documentation required by Navy to achieve its mission. The APS 6 Information & Knowledge Management Officer performs a critical role in managing the integration, configuration, security and currency of the N Library DSN information. This position will work closely with the N Library DPN Manager to ensure consistency in knowledge management practices and is expected to exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.

Some of the key duties of this role are:

Ensure the delivery and upkeep of the DSN N Library digital information, including maintaining the configuration, harmonisation and accuracy of content. Ensure that the Navy’s digital information within the N Library DSN platform is accessible to authorised personnel, configuration controlled and compliant. Provide specialist advice to stakeholders in relation to the N Library life cycle of information and records management activities. Provide knowledge management expertise to the Staff Officer (SO1) with respect to the future development of the DSN N Library, including the upgrade of the SharePoint platform.

Working to the Director Navy Governance, you are part of the team that is embedded in a dynamic environment, supporting Navy Outcome 5. You will be part of the Navy Governance team which consists of a blended workforce of ADF and APS personnel. The team engages with many stakeholders within Navy and Defence to achieve best practice for the implementation and maintenance of Navy’s key governance mechanism.
