REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

PAY GRADE: Admin/Prof 8

DUTY DAYS: 230 Days

DEPARTMENT: Business Services

This position is eligible for a Non-Chapter 21 contract

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Direct and manage business activities of the District including managing the production of the annual CAFR. Develop and implement procedures to ensure timely fulfillment of business office requirements, while providing a high level of customer service. Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

  Special Knowledge/Skills

Thorough knowledge of governmental accounting standards Thorough knowledge of financial coding requirements from TEA’s Financial Accountability System Resource Guide Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local school regulations governing payroll Effective supervisory and communication skills Excellent analytical skills including the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations. Excellent computer skills, including the ability to create and use ExCEL spreadsheets Working knowledge of financial and accounting software and GAAP

Minimum Experience :

Five (5) years of experience at a high level of responsibility, preference given to school district experience. Two (2) years of school supervisory experience preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Oversee business office operations including accounting and reporting Monitor and maintain accuracy of the general ledger, posting entries as needed Monitor and maintain MUNIS control accounts Monitor the depository, reports, and reconcile District’s bank accounts Maintain inventory listing and depreciation schedule for District’s capital assets Provide support do District staff using MUNIS financial system Prepare monthly financial statements Prepare monthly budget amendments Assist the Internal Auditor as needed Assist external auditors with annual audit Prepare Comprehensive Annual Financial Report Coordinate business operations with other District’s departments Provide training on business office procedures to District staff as needed Maintain customer service attitude within the Business Office Maintain PFID training to backup Investment Manager Responsible for year-end close Manage the production of the annual CAFR (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report) for external auditors (the annual audit). Act as an investment officer Ability to successfully work with subordinates and District administration to accomplish goals of the ISD. Provide direction and assist with student activity accounts Other duties as assigned
