Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in the finance team, providing expert support in managing and analyzing the day-to-day operations of the finance department. This position is responsible for preparing financial statements, ensuring the accurate and timely entry of financial and costing data into appropriate systems, and performing complex accounting tasks. The Senior Accountant applies in-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), and company policies and procedures to ensure financial integrity and compliance.

 

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead month-end closing processes, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports. Conduct self-reviews to guarantee the precision and reliability of all financial data.
  • Execute both routine and complex financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy and in accordance with accounting standards. This includes managing bulk inventory adjustments, completing necessary checklists, and ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Oversee and perform detailed financial analyses, including variance analysis, cost reviews, and the evaluation of financial performance indicators. This role requires advanced analytical skills to interpret financial data and recommend strategies for improving financial performance.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to manage monthly financial closings. Provide comprehensive accounting reports and analyses across various business areas, contributing to strategic decision-making.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the company's assets. Assist with tax filings, compliance requirements, and the preparation for internal and external audits.
  • Participate in special projects, such as financial modeling for new investments, sales trend analyses, and profitability studies. This entails applying advanced accounting principles and analytical techniques to support business objectives.
  • Continuously assess and recommend improvements to financial and cost reporting processes, ensuring alignment with best practices in accounting and compliance with relevant accounting standards

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a demonstrated track record of performing complex accounting duties and financial analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and applicable financial regulations.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.

 

 

 

The pay range for this position is $42.00-$55.00 per hour based on experience.
