Responsibilities of the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) II:
- Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used.
- Provide basic nursing care as required, from checking vital signs to administering dressings, treatments, and taking tests.
- Assist with medication charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse, as directed.
- Notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on your shift.
- Review medication cards for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order and adherence to stop order policies.
- Verify that adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet thenursing needs of the residents.Report needs to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
Requirements of the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) II:
- Valid Certified Medication Technician II license.
- CPR certification.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in directing/providing special care for seniors and/or persons with dementia, preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to be self-directed.
- Experience in community or long-term care settings.
- Geriatric assessment skills, knowledgeable in dementia care.
