Job Description Summary The nurse will be responsible for leading the front desk / reception area by greeting patients, answering questions, and triaging patients over the phone and in person assessing the daily clinic schedule and booking appointments as appropriate in the patient scheduling system (PnC). The registered nurse will work within the scope of their practice in terms of treating patients for cold/flu symptoms and or administering injections, overview of autoclaves and other phlebotomy services as appropriate. The nurse will also be responsible for ordering supplies, maintaining inventory counts and updating website, to meet our COVID-19 reporting requirements. The nurse will provide support to the providers and will serve as a back-up to the medical assistants stepping in to take vitals and or to room patients as needed. The nurse will provide patients with various health related information such as explaining the medical insurance plan offered to students and how to access services. The nurse will provide a monthly report to the director regarding payments received at the front desk and coordinate the deposit of payments with Student Financial Services to ensure proper reimbursement of medications purchased. The nurse will assist with campus collaborations such as participating in orientation as needed, the planning of the flu clinic fall semester, preview day, etc. Responsibilities Provide quality health care services for student illness/injury within the scope of registered nurse practice and established Student Health Center policies and procedures: Greet patients, answer phones, and triaging patients while scheduling appointments. Coordinate front desk business office functions by ordering clinical supplies, maintaining clinical inventory counts and initiating medical insurance billing and other payment processes. Monitor campus COVID-19 reporting requirements. Perform and administer laboratory services within the scope of practice for a nurse. Perform procedures such as administering injections and overseeing the autoclave responsibilities. Provide first aid, evaluations and/or referral of student employee occupational injuries in compliance with University, state and federal guidelines. Facilitate referrals to other health and social service agencies when appropriate. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a combination of related education and experience. Or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a Master’s Degree in Nursing. Licensed in the State of California as a Registered Nurse. BLS Certified. Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience as a Nurse preferably in a health care clinic. Knowledge of health education principles and techniques Office coordination experience and ability to work collaboratively with all members of the student health services team Demonstrated clinical skills commensurate with training and licensure Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Ability to understand and abide by FERPA regulations Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse parent and student populations and demonstrate sensitivity to their individual needs Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations Ability to maintain credentialing and licensure Desired Qualifications Professional experience in providing student health services in an education institution such as K-12, community college or four-year university.
