Position Description: We are looking for a BIM Manager with a passion for structures, construction, and learning, one in Northern California and one in Southern California that may share some of the responsibilities of this position.

Ideal Candidate: We’re looking for someone with experience leading BIM specialists across multiple offices, developing BIM execution strategies, and implementing BIM technology to support current projects and future developments.

Compensation: The pay rate for this position generally ranges between $100,000 and $155,000 per year. This range is a good faith estimate pursuant to pay transparency laws. Actual pay rates will be based on various factors, including company geographic differentials, education level, and candidate qualifications.

Job Description:

This position is responsible for leading the vision and initiatives of the company BIM processes. The BIM Manager will coordinate and deliver BIM services to meet client requirements, project goals and company standards. We provide focused technical development within a highly supportive team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor document production planning and execution for select projects. Assess quality and efficiency of modeling and drawing production.
  • Lead development and implementation of internal training for all BIM operators and engineers. Help develop staff with opportunities for external training, seminars, and conferences to broaden and sharpen skills for advancement
  • Maintain the BIM User Guidelines including templates and the BIM Execution Plan for prime projects.
  • Chair the BIM and Documentation Committee (BIMDC) with the expectation of regular meetings and development of new initiatives.
  • Participate in staff resource planning on a weekly basis.
  • Stay current with industry trends and maintain our BIM practice to be at the leading edge of the industry standards.
  • Develop and deploy BIM-focused software to enhance automated drawing production, model interoperability, and collaborative efficiency in collaboration with our Applied Technology Team (ATT) and the Coders Group.
  • Develop and maintain family, detail libraries in collaboration with the BIMDC, Typical Details, and other internal committees.
  • Provide timely resolution to troubleshooting and coordination requests and create regular reports to company management on status of BIM activities.
  • Maintain and improve firm-wide best practices for the company’s Revit, BIM Collaborate Pro, ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud), Navisworks, AutoCAD, Tekla, Bluebeam, and other software applications.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 6+ years of Revit experience working with structural engineering or architecture firms and improving firm-wide best practices for BIM software applications.
  • Experience using Autodesk cloud products (e.g. BIM360), AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience and ability to lead group of BIM specialists across multiple offices.
  • Experience in managing construction document production.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills to facilitate coordination with staff and clients in different geographic locations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to Degenkolb offices as needed.

Desired Requirements:

  • Experience modeling complex projects in the domains of large-scale healthcare, education, civic and science and technology buildings.
  • Experience using fabrication level model assemblies in Tekla or similar software.
  • Familiarity with Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo and some computer program language, macros or scripts.
  • Aptitude toward technology and analytical problem-solving skills for automation efforts and BIM interoperability with other programs (structural analysis, data import/export, QA/QC).
  • Experience working with collaborative interdisciplinary teams on projects in person or via telecommunication for BIM execution planning, clash coordination, and other aspects of BIM project management.
