The Role

Responsible for maintaining, developing and implementing organizational safety programs to assure the health and safety of employees. Prescribe and perform training to educate employees. Conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards and collaborate with others to mitigate hazards. Provide support to operations management and personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. Review and update institutional HSE policies.

Primary Duties

  • Supports and provides leadership for incident management of all injuries.
  • Responsible for partnering with management on incident investigations, identifying causes of incidents by utilizing root cause methodologies, prepares and maintains relevant documentation and takes necessary actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Review incident/injury investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
  • Responsible for managing and working with workers compensation on site incidences
  • Responsible for auditing local facilities to ensure compliance with company programs, policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Provide support and guidance to management regarding federal and state compliance regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Responsible for the coordination, implementation and documentation of HSE required training.
  • Practice and reinforce safe work practices through behavioral observation process and by coordinating and conducting HSE observation training for company and contract employees.
  • Offers innovative solutions and provides leadership support to solve difficult issues and partners with local leadership to implement resolutions that support achieving a zero incident safety culture
  • Participates and/or lead teams in analyzing, developing, improving and executing programs and policies that align with company goals.
  • Monitors injuries/illnesses and worker's compensation claims.
  • Compile and maintain safety statistics, analyze incident data for trends and prepare advisory or alert communications.
  • Establishes, implements and supports local safety committee meetings

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 + years of professional safety experience in warehouse and manufacturing industry
  • Associate degree in Safety Management, industrial hygiene, or social sciences, preferred
  • Certifications: BSP Certified, OSHA, or any other related certifications in health and safety, desirable Position requires an extensive knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health and safety laws
