Position Summary: The Business Development professional will identify new business opportunities, build strong relationships with key stakeholders, and develops strategic partnerships across various industries. This position will also conduct market research, develop and execute sales strategies, manage customer accounts, and stay current on industry trends and innovations.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with customers and sales engineers to understand customer requirements and develop first class competitive conveyor solutions.
- Participate in market segment trade associations and continuing educations to maintain relevant knowledge.
- Network within the market segment industry and maintain working relationships to gain opportunities for supplying material handling systems.
- Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders.
- Visit customer facilities to evaluate needs or to promote product or service sales.
- Qualify opportunities by evaluating budget, funding status, schedule, and compatibility with Industrial Kinetics products or process.
- Travel domestically up to 25% of time for general company presentations, opportunity/application review meetings and account management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in one of the following fields: Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering), Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain Management or Operations Management.
- Relevant industry experience (5+ years in industrial equipment, manufacturing systems, conveyor technologies or a similar industry required.
- Must be willing to work from our Chicago area office and be willing to travel up to 25% per month.
- Ability to apply engineering science principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
- Technical sales experience is highly recommended
- Experience in managing sales cycles from 6-12 months
- Solid understanding of market segment/industry material handling needs, common technologies, trends, and current regulations.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and selling products or services including marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
