Responsibilities

Supervise the daily activities of the pharmacy technicians.

  • Schedule and assign daily work assignments for pharmacy technicians and may perform the duties of a pharmacy technician.
  • Oversee process improvement activities. 
  • Act as liaison between department and other hospital departments, physicians and external customers in matters relating to pharmacy operations.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure that procedures and policies comply with organizational, federal, state and Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.
  • Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:
    • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences

Previous experience compounding hazardous medications. Strong knowledge of USP 797 and 800. Previous leadership experience preferred.
