The Upper School Director is the administrator responsible for the overall management and operation of the elementary school program. This role involves strategic planning, leadership, and administration to ensure the achievement of the school’s mission and vision. The Upper School Director will collaborate with faculty, staff, parents, and the community to create a nurturing and stimulating educational environment that promotes academic excellence and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Leadership and Strategic Planning:

    • Develop and implement a strategic plan in collaboration with the Head of School.
    • Lead the school community in achieving academic and operational goals.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that supports student learning and development.
  2. Educational Program Management:

    • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum and instructional programs.
    • Ensure that educational practices meet or exceed accreditation standards and state regulations.
    • Promote innovative teaching methods and professional development for faculty and staff.
  3. Operational and Financial Management:

    • Manage the school’s budget and ensure financial stability and sustainability.
    • Oversee all aspects of school operations, including facilities management, technology, and transportation.
    • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  4. Community Relations and Communication:

    • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the school, representing it to the community, parents, and stakeholders.
    • Foster strong relationships with parents, alumni, donors, and the broader community.
    • Communicate effectively with all members of the school community to keep them informed and engaged.
  5. Human Resources Management:

    • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff.
    • Promote a collaborative and supportive working environment.
    • Address and resolve personnel issues in a timely and effective manner.
  6. Student Support and Development:

    • Ensure a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for all students.
    • Oversee programs that support the academic, social, and emotional development of students.
    • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community.
Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Administration, or a related field; Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in educational leadership, preferably in an independent or private school setting.
  • Proven track record of effective leadership, strategic planning, and organizational management.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive school environment.
  • Passion for education and a deep understanding of child development.
