Position Overview

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant I is responsible for managing the timely and accurate application of customer and vendor payments. In addition, the Staff Accountant I is responsible for daily cash reconciliations and generalized journal entry transactions.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Verifies and reconciles daily deposits.
  • Performs research on accounts as needed.
  • Posts and reconciles payment corrections after ensuring complete and accurate documentation.
  • Records customer and vendor payments into the Company's ERP systems.
  • Reconciles daily cash through bank reconciliation.
  • Researches unidentified checks in the GL.
  • Prepare journal entries for non-customer cash deposits.
  • Prepares misc. journal entries per management's guidance.
  • Receive invoices and verify accuracy of information throughout our different systems.
  • Enter invoices into Accounts Payable systems.
  • Approve payment batches.
  • Maintain and file all appropriate documentation.
  • Reconcile Vendor Statements and assists with 1099s.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize/re-prioritize multiple projects and/or deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent experience will also be considered (1-2 years) or relevant internship experience.
  • Proficient in 10 key by touch.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office with basic Excel skills.
