Internship Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES

: The Internship Coordinator of the Rural Postsecondary & Economic Development program (RPED) is responsible for the direction and operation of the RPED program curriculum and activities including: Developing and maintaining proactive relationships with secondary schools and University departments for on- campus and off-campus internships and/or jobs; creates and delivers curriculum, activities, orientation and workshops for participants; assists students with preparing for interviews and job shadowing by developing resumes, cover letters and applications; mentors students concerning career experiences; and tracks data including participants’ internship and job placements, achievement of career competencies, use of the STAR reflection method, enrollment in Level Up courses, and career outcomes. Mediates issues or conflicts between participants and supervisors, manages internship and job experience pay rates, maintains accuracy of internship or job descriptions, and ensures federal, state, and local employment laws are followed. REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree with experience with low income and first-generation students and business, education, social services, human resources, or related fields. Excellent written and oral communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with job and internship placement and experience in education.
