The Role: Vice President of Operations

The Role

The VP of Operations is a mission-critical leader who will drive the strategy, optimization and operational transformation of the end-to-end global supply chain.

This will be a proactive, highly energetic and self-motivated executive with proven experience overseeing U.S. and international operations at highly relevant best-in-class businesses.

The ideal candidate will have built and scaled the function through similar scale and have expertise with both crafting the long-term strategy and overseeing the execution across a decentralized workforce and third party partners. This executive will have an innate understanding of driving performance through excellent team leadership, as well as driving efficiency through employing and managing best-in-class operational KPIs, technology and supplier partners. The candidate will bring a player/coach mentality and be as comfortable ‘getting into the weeds’ as they are crafting the long-term strategy.

In addition to direct experience, the VP will have strong analytical ability, knowledge of relevant best-in-class KPIs, and a demonstrable track record of achieving metrics across efficiency, quality, productivity and cost.

This role is located in San Antonio, TX, and reports to CFO/COO.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable international infrastructure to support our client’s ambitious near- and long-term goals.
  • Lead, motivate and grow the team across regulatory and quality, supply chain, operations, strategic sourcing and commercialization. Drive a culture of ownership, accountability and performance throughout the operating system.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels, achieving on-time in-full delivery of 92%+ for retail relationships.
  • Identify and implement 3PL partners in Europe and the U.S. to maintain and mitigate business continuity issues across wholesale and DTC.
  • Consolidate contract manufacturers based on a comprehensive scorecard of performance, quality, responsiveness and communication, speed and timeliness, and cost.
  • Implement strategic sourcing improvements and price reductions on components (both primary and secondary packaging) and raw materials.
  • Anticipate roadblocks and proactively address issues before they impact business results. Ensure relevant programs/projects are on track, including budget, timeline and scope. Champion process and policy documentation and implementation.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, and ensure our client is on the leading edge from a process and technology standpoint.
  • Proactively address efficiency and cost control, always relentlessly on the lookout for improvement in the bottom line performance.
  • Partner with cross functional leaders across the business to ensure companywide strategic objectives are achieved from an operational perspective.
  • Act as Executive Sponsor with external partners and vendors. Be an outward-facing leader to key partners, vendors, investors, etc. Drive a sense of ownership and accountability for overall business success.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in the consumer goods/cosmetic industry (required) and/or a regulated industry such as SPF (preferred).
  • Proven track record of optimizing global supply chains and implementing transformation across people, process, and tools.
  • Collaborative, empathetic, and optimistic teammate and leader with a knack for bringing out the best in those around them.
  • Naturally analytical mindset, skilled in distilling large, complex data into clear, concise insights.
  • Ability to act autonomously, make decisions in ambiguity, and back those decisions up with clear, strategic thinking and data.
  • Gritty, known for rolling up your sleeves to get it done.
  • Strong negotiation experience.
  • Known for remaining calm under pressure while acting with urgency.
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Management a must; MBA a plus.
