Position Summary

Ice Resurfacer Drivers are responsible for maintaining ice quality to NHL standards through scheduled resurfacing and other assigned ice maintenance including but not limited to installation and deconstruction of the hockey ice surface.

This role will pay $19.00/hour (after 90-day probationary period)

Benefits for PT roles: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching. Also, OVG provides part-time, seasonal, and internship employees with one hour of accrued paid leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.

The XL Center is Connecticut’s premier destination for sports & entertainment.
The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses.

The XL Center is also home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.

The XL Center entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season. The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world-renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others.

The XL Center will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.

Responsibilities

Arrives for work on time for each scheduled shift, in uniform and ready to work Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays Must be able to take both verbal and written direction Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis Ability to stand on feet for up to 8 hours at a time, kneel, stoop, climb stair, and reach/lift above head in conjunction with ice maintenance tasks Responsible for ice resurfacing, ice edging and overall ice quality Perform various general maintenance functions for equipment, including blade changes, exercising adequate judgment to ensure completion of tasks as assigned Assist in maintaining, cleaning and safety checking all machines, and areas surrounding as needed Monitor all refrigeration equipment, keep necessary records and logbooks on equipment, and inform the Ice Operations Manager if systems or equipment is malfunctioning Assist in cleaning up ice before and after events and setup game day ice crew area Works safely, quickly and efficiently to meet all deadlines Maintains a positive, outgoing demeanor Ability to work independently and in a team environment All other tasks assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications

Experience working in an ice rink setting preferred Comfortable in front of large crowds Comfortable operating Resurfacer with intermission rider Valid Driver’s License 2 years’ experience operating ice resurfacing equipment preferred Previous experience with ice edger and forklift equipment preferred
