Pharmacy Technician

Position Summary Under the direct supervision of pharmacists, this entry level position is responsible for performing all of the functions of a pharmacy technician including maintaining Pyxis, preparing IVs and other admixtures, pre-packing, filling, loading, labeling, maintaining inventory, maintaining computer records, generating reports, restocking, debiting, crediting, maintain emergency boxes, and prompt medication delivery. Begin to develop leadership skills and serve as a role model to pharmacy interns. Education High School Diploma/ GED - Preferred Experience 1-2 Years Pharmacy experience or completion of approved pharmacy technician program/examination - Preferred License & Certification

Registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy - Required

Core Job Functions Preparation and delivery of IV admixtures and other medications as related to routine and new orders. Maintains adequate par levels of medications/supplies. Assists in maintaining IV automation systems. Preparation of IV admixtures and maintenance of IV automation systems. Repackaging process for unit dose medications. Performs charge capture, reconciles discrepancies and issues credits. Solutions are prepared, labeled and available according to policy guidelines and physician orders. Assures that aseptic technique is followed during preparation. Identifies, quarantines and restocks outdated or contaminated pharmaceuticals. Maintains adequate par levels of fluids in main pharmacy.
