Overview:
- Service scientific instrumentation/equipment across 3 Baltimore locations.
- Perform service and instrument checks and solve circuit problems.
- Support daily operations of an ARM Mobile Facility for the US Department of Energy (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) campaign in Baltimore, Maryland.
- Perform routine checks, inventory management, instrument maintenance and repair, and weather balloon launches.
- Serve the international climate research community by deploying and managing field research laboratories for unprecedented data collection all over the world.
- Travel and deploy to various locations around the world, beginning with the current 2-year deployment in Baltimore.
- Build and foster relationships with technical and project management staff from national labs and research institutions across the country.
- Receive and document shipments and assist with outbound shipments.
- Engage the public by leading site tours and hosting visitors to the campaign site.
- Follow all site safety and code of conduct procedures.
Clearance & Citizenship Requirement:
- To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Due to the federal nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
- 2 years of leadership and/or mentorship experience.
- 2 years of experience operating, installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining meteorological instrumentation.
- Experience operating, installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining scientific, outdoor, and/or meteorological instrumentation.
- Experience with various scientific instruments.
About the Site:
The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
