Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to be a part of a multidisciplinary team caring for children with physical illness and co-morbid behavioral conditions in both the inpatient and outpatient medical settings. Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

In collaboration with attending physician(s), perform triage, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies, provide diagnostic procedures and professional consultations, prescribe appropriate interventions and medications, coordinate the care of patients, and provide direct patient care services to child and adolescent patients with physical illness and co-morbid behavioral health needs in both the inpatient medical and outpatient setting. Role will include providing support to patients and families as they transition from an inpatient medical setting to outpatient care and working closely with a range of pediatric medical specialists. In inpatient setting role will include rounding in the hospital with a multidisciplinary team including seeing patients, performing consultation and supporting care coordination needs in partnership with inpatient care management team In outpatient setting role will include following up with patients and providing outpatient clinical care and follow-up as part of the outpatient multidisciplinary team. Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients’ condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with physician colleagues. Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, nursing staff, patient resource manager, and other relevant healthcare providers. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the department and hospital to provide care to complex patients. Analyze clinical practice patterns so as to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency. Make work assignments for assigned nursing and technical personnel; review the work of other staff; train new personnel. Participate in teaching students and residents in techniques and procedures which are unique to the mental health setting. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education

Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing. Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.

Certification

BLS required.

License

Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment. Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Experience

1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.
