Maintenance Technician III

This position is scheduled to start September 9th.
Purpose of the position:
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for specialized technical, repair, and maintenance work in county buildings and properties, along with responsibility for supervising a work crew.
Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of four (4) years progressively increasing experience in one or more maintenance trades, and completion of safety training; or equivalent of education and experience. Must be 21 years of age or older.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily very heavy work requiring exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and//or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions and involves the use of heavy equipment, machinery, and tools. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, feeling, fingering, handling, kneeling lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work in one or more of the maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, welding, and electrical work.Maintain related paperwork, such as work orders.Purchase materials needed as necessary, obtain items from qualified vendors, or seek bids or price quotes according to established policy and procedure.Performs other related duties as assigned.Organization Conformance Standards for all Positions:

All new employees are paid according to their years of relevant education and experience above minimum requirements for the position and employees have the opportunity to obtain pay increases via cost of living increases and promotions.
