Summary/Objective
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Medical Director at Patient Centered Services will lead psychiatric services for pediatric and adolescent populations. This role involves overseeing clinical care, directing treatment plans, and ensuring the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered psychiatric services. As a key leader, the Medical Director will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, social workers, and therapists, to enhance mental health outcomes for young patients and their families.

Essential Functions
  • Provide clinical leadership in the psychiatric treatment of children and adolescents, ensuring adherence to evidence-based care practices.
  • Oversee the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric conditions in pediatric patients, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders.
  • Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with healthcare providers, focusing on both pharmacological and therapeutic interventions.
  • Supervise and mentor psychiatric staff, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and other mental health professionals.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary team meetings to review patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and provide guidance on complex cases.
  • Serve as a liaison between the clinical team, patients, families, and external partners, ensuring clear communication and comprehensive care.
  • Lead the development and implementation of protocols, policies, and quality improvement initiatives for pediatric psychiatric services.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including HIPAA, regarding patient care and confidentiality.
  • Oversee medication management for pediatric patients, ensuring appropriate dosages and monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Stay current with research and developments in child and adolescent psychiatry, implementing new practices and therapies as appropriate.
  • Provide direct psychiatric care to patients, including evaluations, therapy, and crisis intervention.

  • Deep knowledge of psychiatric conditions affecting children and adolescents, including treatment protocols and medication management.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a clinical team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and medical professionals.
  • Ability to develop and oversee treatment plans that consider the developmental, emotional, and social needs of pediatric patients.
  • Expertise in crisis intervention and acute psychiatric care for children and adolescents.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, with a focus on family engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Direct supervision of child and adolescent psychiatric staff, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and mental health professionals.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the clinical team, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Participate in the recruitment and training of new psychiatric staff.
Work Environment
The role operates in both clinical and community-based settings, providing services to children and adolescents. The Medical Director may also oversee telehealth services.

Physical Demands
This role involves standard physical demands for a clinical environment, including extended periods of sitting or standing and occasional lifting of supplies or medical records (up to 20 pounds).

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with flexibility in scheduling based on the needs of the clinic. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to meet patient needs or attend meetings.

Travel
Minimal travel is required, though occasional local travel may be necessary for meetings or community outreach.

Required Education and Experience
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Washington, DC.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatric care, with a focus on pediatric populations.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership or administrative role within a psychiatric setting.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience working in community health or home-based psychiatric care settings.
  • Experience in managing telehealth psychiatric services.
  • Research experience or publications in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • DEA certification and ability to prescribe psychiatric medications.
