Adjunct Faculty, Welding

- Provide the most effective instruction possible in one’s discipline to insure that the educational needs of students are met and that students achieve specified learning objectives.
- Teach assigned courses, whether on campus or off campus, day or evening, following the official syllabi and using approved textbooks and other learning materials.
- Meet all classes regularly and on time, as scheduled, and for their full duration.
- Evaluate student performance (attainment of learning objectives) and assign grades.
- Maintain all office hours and make arrangements for appointments with students at other times.
- Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, etc.
- Make arrangements with the department chair or assistant dean for covering classes when scheduling an absence.
- Meet all deadlines in submitting grades or other required information on students.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Current and demonstrated knowledge in applicable course content;
- knowledge of current teaching methodologies and practices, such as cooperative learning, service-learning, traditional and alternative assessment;
- Knowledge of diverse learning styles;
- Knowledge of tutorial units and related instructional learning laboratories;
- Knowledge of evaluation methodologies;
- Knowledge of record keeping;
- Knowledge of curriculum design and planning.
- Must posses strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Skill in problem solving;
- Skill in time management;
- Skill in computer use;
- Skill in listening and in critical thinking.
- Must have a sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, special needs, and ethnic backgrounds of college students.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas;
- Ability to speak clearly;
- Ability to work with students with learning differences and disabilities.
American Welding Society (AWS) certification.
(2) years experience in welding industry to include
