Job Summary

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs general radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Performs a variety of technical imaging procedures that entail application of ionizing radiation; therefore, prudent judgment, strong technical skills, and commitment to patient safety are considered requisite professional characteristics for individuals assuming the position as a general radiologic technologist.

Radiography Technologist III: Level III is intended for candidates with 4+ years of experience with DEXA certification & current clinical competency, as well as deep familiarity with all radiography imaging equipment used at Denver Health. Denver Health is invested in its team members, and we will help you get here if you do not yet qualify On the job training is available to qualify for this level.



Essential Functions :

Acquire and maintain Bone Density (DEXA) certification.
Must pass a Bone Density Registry and be accredited in DEXA (DX).
Obtaining and maintaining super user training on DEXA equipment. Capable of training additional staff to the same level of expertise.
Ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of Bone Density Equipment. This includes troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as needed.
Managing and maintaining smooth workflow within the day-to-day operations of the Bone Density modality.
Take on Bone Density responsibilities as needed. (25%)

Performs high quality general radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging studies by selecting specific software parameters that will produce a quality image for use by radiologists in their determination of a diagnosis.
A thorough clinical understanding of intricacies of fluoroscopy necessities.
Provide cross coverage support when staffing needs arise.
Acquire and maintain super user status for specialized perioperative service imaging needs. This includes, but is not limited to, the O Arm and 3D C Arm.
Provide comprehensive training on all nuanced functionalities and operational intricacies of the advanced perioperative imaging systems to fellow Radiography Technologists.
Acquire and maintain super user status for all radiographic imaging equipment including fixed and mobile units.
Must be able to effectively schedule a patient from beginning to end in Epic. This includes inpatient and outpatient workflows.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of all pediatric subspecialties including all essential mobile imaging standards along with Non-Accidental Trauma studies.

Effectively interacts with Denver Health's PACS system through compliance with data entry, image post-processing, image archiving tasks, image quality assurance, and other related user interface activities. Uses Epic to input patient examination data and to place patient orders, when appropriate. (10%)

Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers. Transports patients to and from the Department of Radiology, as needed, to prevent patient flow delays. (10%)

Assists in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on those medical supplies utilized when performing general radiographic examinations. Maintains imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled cleanings and tests; results of all cleanings and tests are documented, as appropriate. Contacts service personnel and notifies supervisory staff of equipment malfunctions. (10%)

Must be able to step into a lead role in lieu of direct Supervisor being unavailable.
Able to assign and delegate relevant tasks to staff.
Coordinate the completion of inpatient orders involving the performing and ordering clinicians.
Efficiently and effectively implement real-time changes as needed due to staffing or patient volumes.
Able to operate all aspects of diagnostic radiography at off-campus facilities and step into role as needed. This may include additional duties such as clerical support. (10%)

Attends and participates in departmental huddles, general intradepartmental meetings, and Radiology's inservices. (5%)

Maintains a clean and orderly working environment through wiping down examination tables, changing linens, stocking supplies, and washing/disinfecting general radiographic equipment. (5%)


Education :

Associate's Degree Bone Density Certificate required. Required


Work Experience :

1-3 years Minimum 3 years or more of professional work experience in performing general radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures. Required


Licenses :

BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and

RTR-RT Radiography - ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Demonstrated knowledge in how to operate general radiographic equipment and related technology.

Demonstrated competency in the performance of general radiographic imaging studies.

Knowledge of how to address age-specific care needs of patients and effective interpersonal skill sets that lead to productive communications and collaborations.

Competency in interpreting physician order requests for general radiographic imaging studies.

Ability to exercise prudent judgment in selecting and configuring equipment settings to compensate for patient physiologic variances.

Ability to consistently produce quality images of various anatomical structures.

Ability to handle patient specimens and laboratory equipment.

Ability to maintain the expected level of competency.

Knowledge of safety and infection control practices to ensure a safe environment of care.

Microsoft Office Suite experience required.

Electronic Health Management experience preferred.
